The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a tragic case of culpable homicide that rocked Byazhin community in Abuja.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh in a statement on Monday noted that the incident occurred on February 12, 2026, at about 11:45 p.m.,
She explained that the Byazhin divisional headquarters in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council received a distress call that 16-year-old Chidera Benjamin had allegedly attacked his mother with a machete during a heated domestic dispute.
“Police operatives raced to the scene, but investigations revealed that two neighbours, Cosmos Okafor, and Okechukwu Wisdom, descended on the teenager in retaliation for the assault on his mother.
“The quarrel stemmed from allegations that Chidera had been siphoning money from his mother’s bank account into his personal Opay wallet. When confronted, he reportedly turned violent, slashing her hand with a machete.
