The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has intensified its fight against infrastructure vandalism, recovering an additional 10 stolen manhole covers in a recent operation in the Dei-Dei area.
This brings the total number of retrieved manhole covers to 125, highlighting the command’s commitment to curbing the theft and destruction of public assets.
The latest recovery followed an intelligence-led operation on February 4, during which officers discovered the stolen items hidden in a pit.
The breakthrough was made possible through a tip-off from a vigilant informant, emphasizing the critical role of public cooperation in tackling crime.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, issued a stern warning to those involved in infrastructure vandalism and the illicit trade of stolen public property.
He reaffirmed the command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks operating within the FCT.
“We will not relent in our search for stolen public assets. Our operatives are intensifying efforts to locate and dismantle illegal warehouses and storage sites where vandals may be stockpiling stolen infrastructure.

Disu commended residents for their support and urged them to remain vigilant, emphasizing that public assets are a shared responsibility.
He encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the authorities, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure for a safe and functional environment.
