The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has condemned the attack on security personnel by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, which left one operative dead and two others injured.
The incident occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025, around 2:20 pm, when armed IMN members launched a violent assault on security operatives in the Banex Area of Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.
According to the police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh in a statement on Friday, the attackers used firearms, cutlasses, catapults, stones, petrol bombs, and other dangerous weapons.
Upon arrival at the scene, security forces were met with heavy gunfire, resulting in serious injuries to three personnel.
They were rushed to the National Hospital, where one later died.

According to the statement, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, confirmed the arrest of 19 suspects, while others fled.
He assured residents that normalcy had been restored and vowed that all perpetrators would face justice.
Adewale warned that attacks on security personnel will not be tolerated and urged the public to remain calm.
