The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command, has announced the recovery of 21 stolen vehicles and the arrest of 1,611 suspects linked to various criminal activities including car theft and drug-related offenses in the territory.
Speaking during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, CP Adewale disclosed that the recent achievements were a direct result of intensified intelligence-led operations and targeted raids conducted throughout the month of April 2025.
Major Highlights from the FCT Police Operations; “21 Stolen Vehicles Recovered: The command recovered 21 vehicles suspected to have been stolen. Six have already been returned to verified owners, while 13 were paraded at the event.
15 Car Theft Suspects Arrested: Several suspects linked to vehicle thefts are in custody and awaiting prosecution.
1,611 Suspects Apprehended: Coordinated raids across multiple black spots led to the arrest of 1,611 individuals, many of whom are believed to be involved in drug trafficking and related crimes.
Significant Drug Seizures: Recovered substances include large quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, codeine, Tramadol, Diazepam, and other controlled drugs. Also seized were various electronics and items believed to be proceeds of crime.
“Notable Arrests and Recoveries; Car Theft Arrest Near Revenue Commission: On April 11, police apprehended one Hassan Bukar while attempting to flee with a stolen Toyota Camry (1999 model) near the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission. A set of master keys used for car theft was recovered.

“Mechanic Flees with Client’s Vehicle: On April 10, a stolen Toyota Camry (2011 model) was recovered in Gwarinpa after the suspect mechanic, Abdulazeez Auwal Salisu, sold it to a buyer. The mechanic remains at large.
“Driver Flees with Official Vehicle: On March 4, police recovered a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Ministry of Regional Development in Kaduna State. The official driver, Abubakar Saidu, was arrested while attempting to sell the vehicle.
“Luxury Car Theft Foiled: On April 28, five suspects were arrested in Life Camp while trying to sell a stolen Mercedes Benz E-400 (Reg. No. AAA 07 KA) originally stolen in Lekki, Lagos.
“Between April 30 and May 1, 2025, a joint task force including the police, army, and vigilante groups raided several criminal hideouts across the FCT. Arrests included 1,488 suspects and the seizure of:
Over 100 mobile phones, laptops, and electronic devices, 15 motorcycles, 109 ATM cards, Weapons including an axe, scissors, and a crusher, Large stashes of controlled drugs and narcotics
CP Adewale reiterated the FCT Police Command’s commitment to ensuring safety and maintaining law and order. He called on the public to support law enforcement by providing credible information and viewing police operations as efforts aimed at fostering a secure environment for all residents.
“We remain relentless in our pursuit of criminal elements and the prevention of crime across the Federal Capital Territory,” CP Adewale affirmed.
