A 33-year-old man, identified as Obinna Nwigwe has been arrested by the police after he shot another during an argument and a cache of weapons, including police uniforms and other incriminating items were uncovered at his home in Bwari, headquarters of Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, in a press statement on Monday, stated that the suspect was arrested on December 26, 2024, at a guest house after he shot a 29-year-old man, Andrew Philemon.
She explained that Nwigwe claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense following a heated argument, adding that at the time of the incident, the suspect was armed with a pump-action rifle.
“On December 26, 2024, police officers responded to a distress call from Najob Guest House in Bwari, where gunfire had been reported. Upon arrival, they discovered 29-year-old Andrew Philemon bleeding from critical injuries after being shot by 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe.

“Nwigwe claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense following a heated argument. At the time of the incident, he was armed with a pump-action rifle.
“A thorough search of Nwigwe’s residence yielded an alarming array of weapons, including five dane guns, one English-made single barrel gun, an AK-47 magazine containing 29 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, four live cartridges, 17 expanded cartridges, a bow with arrows, various knives, a sword stick, a toy gun, a taser, a bulletproof jacket, multiple sets of police uniforms and boots
“Andrew Philemon is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, while Obinna Nwigwe is expected to face charges once the investigation concludes,” the police added.
