The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda places healthcare at the centre of Nigeria’s national development strategy.
Mahmoud stated this on Wednesday at the inaugural national health convention and round table 1.0 organised by the APC Medical Council at the State House, Banquet Hall, Abuja.
According to the minister, ongoing reforms under the All Progressives Congress-led administration demonstrate a deliberate push to revitalise primary healthcare, expand health insurance coverage, improve health financing structures, and enhance the welfare of health workers.
She commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what she described as a people-centred initiative that aligns with the party’s broader governance vision.
Mahmoud said the administration under Tinubu has consistently shown commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and implementing policies aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerians.

Describing the round table as timely, she urged participants to focus on actionable recommendations capable of improving primary healthcare services, maternal and child health outcomes, and tackling persistent health sector challenges.
She stressed the importance of practical and implementable solutions to accelerate Nigeria’s progress toward universal health coverage, noting that policy discussions must translate into measurable outcomes.
The minister further stated that with the president’s backing, significant resources are being deployed to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the FCT, including satellite towns.
She called on stakeholders to ensure that deliberations at the convention result in tangible interventions that directly impact communities and expand access, quality and equity in healthcare delivery.
