The commissioners of police of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kaduna State on Monday led a joint patrol along the Jere–Abuja Highway to strengthen border security and reassure commuters during the 2025 festive season.
The joint patrol was led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, and his Kaduna State counterpart, Mohammed Rabiu, said a statement issued on Tuesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
Jere community, a strategic border settlement linking the FCT and Kaduna State, serves as a key corridor for commuter movement and security operations.
Police authorities said the exercise was aimed at addressing cross-border crime and enhancing safety along the busy route.

The police explained that the joint operation underscores the sustained collaboration between both commands in tackling security threats, especially as traffic and human movement increase during the Christmas and New Year period.
The patrol also formed part of a confidence-boosting initiative to reassure residents and road users of the police’s commitment to ensuring safe passage on the Abuja–Kaduna Highway.
The FCT Police Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives, and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via its emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
