Former Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has publicly dissociated himself from recent media reports suggesting his involvement in self-declaring as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the alleged suspension of prominent party figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governors Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde.
In a press statement, Fayose clarified that Ambassador Umar Damagum is the current Chairman of the PDP and that he has no aspirations to lead the party. “As of today, Ambassador Umar Damagum is the Chairman of the PDP, and I am not aspiring to be Chairman of the party,” Fayose said.
Fayose also pointed out the confusion surrounding his surname, emphasizing that there are many individuals with the surname “Fayose” in Nigeria. He stressed the importance of correctly identifying him in news reports, urging the public to ignore stories that do not clearly state his full name. “I am Peter Ayodele Fayose. Stories not clearly stating my name should be disregarded and treated as stories from any of the many other Fayoses in Nigeria,” he stated.

He further advised the public to focus on the full content of news stories rather than just headlines. “The public should endeavor to read the content of news stories, not just the headlines,” he added.
Fayose also distanced himself from the internal conflicts within the PDP, making it clear that he is not involved in any party drama and has no interest in pursuing any political office, whether elected or appointed. “Most importantly, I’m not part of the drama in the party and will never be. I am also not interested in any political office, either appointed or elective,” he concluded.
This clarification comes amidst ongoing political maneuverings within the PDP, as key figures continue to jostle for influence ahead of the party’s future electoral plans.
