The tragic death of Adetunji “Teejay” Opayele, Co-founder and CTO of Bumpa, has sparked an outpouring of outrage and grief among family, friends, and the community, who are now demanding justice.
On March 4, 2025, Teejay was returning home on his motorcycle after a workout at iFitness gym in Victoria Island, Lagos, when he was struck by Biola Adams-Odutayo, who was driving a vehicle
Reports indicate that she merged onto Ozumba Mbadiwe Road without yielding the right of way, leading to the serious collision that left Teejay unconscious.
Despite his use of full protective gear, which included a helmet and riding apparel, Teejay sustained life-threatening injuries.
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene in which Biola, a healthcare professional, allegedly refused to check on him.
Bystanders claimed she coldly dismissed their pleas for help, reportedly stating that she did not want “blood to stain her car.”
Instead of providing assistance, Biola remained on a phone call for over 30 minutes, while good samaritans desperately sought to secure medical aid for Teejay.
After the accident, Teejay was transported to two separate hospitals, both of which reportedly denied him medical care, citing various reasons.

The urgency of the situation escalated when rescuers were compelled to insist that Biola accompany them to a third hospital, attempting to circumvent further rejection of care.
Tragically, by the time they arrived, it was too late; Teejay was pronounced dead.
In the wake of this incident, Biola has allegedly leveraged her professional connections to evade accountability.
Initially detained for only one night, she faced minimal charges of reckless driving, despite the public uproar surrounding her actions.
Released on bail set at N1 million, she has since failed to honour a police summon on March 17, prompting further frustration and demands for justice from Teejay’s family and the broader community.
Teejay’s family is adamant that Biola must face more serious charges, specifically manslaughter, and they are calling on the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to ensure a transparent and fair legal process.
Additionally, they are urging both the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and the Lagos State commissioner of police to take decisive action, to prevent any potential cover-up, emphasizing the need for accountability in this heart-wrenching case.
