An explosion took place early Tuesday morning, December 30, at the General Hospital in Bagudo, Kebbi State, leading to widespread alarm in the area.
SP Bashir Usman, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the incident and reassured residents of Bagudo and nearby communities that the security situation is under control.
He stated that there were no casualties from the explosion, although a building in the hospital’s staff quarters sustained damage.
“The Kebbi State Police Command assures all residents that it has full control over the security situation following the loud explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo, in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30, 2025,” the statement said.
“A joint security team comprising police, military, and vigilante personnel has quickly secured the affected area. Specialist EOD-CBRN teams are on-site conducting a thorough evaluation.

“We are pleased to report that there are no injuries. Although a building in the staff quarters was damaged, the occupants had already evacuated safely.
“The commissioner of police has reinforced the area with additional tactical units to ensure public safety. A detailed investigation is currently underway.
“We urge the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area to facilitate ongoing security and investigative efforts. Further updates will be provided as needed.”
