The joy of the people of Adamawa state, especially women, as noticed by The Trumpet, recently known no bounds, as the state governor, Admadu Umaru Fintiri, unveiled a female as his running mate for the forthcoming general elections.

Unveiling the Vice Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, as his running mate for the forthcoming exercise, the decision according to him, has become necessary to give women a sense of belonging.

With this development, the governor who is seeking re-election, will this time around not be carrying his incumbent deputy Crowther Seth.

While breaking his silence on why he decided to go for a female running mate, the choice of Farauta, according to him, was designed to ensure women’s participation in politics.

Citing her expertise, bringing her on board as a running mate, he believed, would as well add tremendous value to the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Admitting that “Farauta’s competency and loyalty is exceptional”, the Vice Chancellor, as affirmed by him “has been tested severally and proven to be dependable and worthy”.

Fintiri who also used the opportunity to beckon at the opposition political parties in the state to “join the winning team for the overall interest of our dear Adamawa state” is certain that his party (PDP) will emerge victorious from the polls.

The governor, who also took his time to showered encomiums on his incumbent deputy, whom he described as a loyal deputy governor, vowed to complete the would-soon-to-expire tenure with him.

Aligning his weight to that of the governor, the state chairman of the party, Barrister Tahir Shehu, also thumbs up the deputy governor, who according to him, made the endorsement of Farauta possible.

Calling on the people of the state to throw their weights in such of Fintiri and Farauta, the party, as made known by him, will not cease from giving women in the state the opportunity to participate actively in politics.

Also on his part, the Pro-chancellor and chairman governing council of the University who doubles as a member of the PDP board of trustees, Alhaji Auwal Tukur described the choice of Farauta as wise, going by her pedigree in the academia.

Visibly elated, Farauta admonished eligible voters especially women who are yet to collect their voter’s card, to as a matter of urgency go ahead and collect it.

Some women who bared their minds on the development lauded the efforts of the governor who according to them has not only made Adamawa women proud but the entire women in the northeast and the country at large.

They tasked other governors from the region and in the north as a whole to borrow leaves from Fintiri, by giving women the much-desired attention and opportunities in their state.

The women who were optimistic that Farauta would make them proud vowed to put aside all forms of sentiments and rally around her party to triumph over opposition parties in the elections.

Farauta, as observed by The Trumpet, will no doubt be the first female deputy governor that will emerge from the northern part of the country, if her party eventually come out victorious at the polls come 2023.
