Former Chairman, Board of Directors, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, (NIMASA), Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd), has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Taraba State.
The candidate who contested the election with four other aspirants triumphed over them with a landslide victory.
The Trumpet gathered that Agbu joined the race at the eleventh hours after the sales of nomination forms had been closed and screening of aspirants concluded, still went ahead to polled 443 votes to defeat his closest rival who scored 31.
Announcing the results, the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Kabir Bappa Jauro, gave the number of the total votes cast as 522 and the number of votes cast as 517.
Jauro went ahead to declare Agbu as the winner of the primary and described the primary as “free, fair, credible and transparent.”

In his acceptance speech, Agbu said “Taraba people are committed to voting for a candidate that will continue the good work the incumbent governor is doing.”
He beckoned on the people to stop using provocative words against aspirants who did not make it, stating that “we all need each other to triumph at the general polls.”
Admitting that the victory is for the entire PDP family, he beckoned at his fellow contestants to join forces with the party to emerge victorious in the forthcoming polls slated for 2023.
