Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has confirmed that he has received an official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the agency.
In a post on his personal Facebook page on Friday, Malami emphasized his commitment to the rule of law, transparency, and accountability in public service.
“I confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a patriotic and law-abiding citizen, I am prepared to respond to the invitation,” he wrote.
He added that making the invitation public reflects his longstanding advocacy for transparency in governance and the importance of keeping Nigerians informed on matters involving public officials.

Malami served as Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. His tenure was marked by high-profile legal cases, asset recovery initiatives, anti-corruption campaigns, and several controversial government decisions that drew national attention.
Towards the end of his term, Malami faced scrutiny over issues related to asset declarations, contract approvals, and the management of recovered government assets, allegations he has consistently denied.
At the time of reporting, the EFCC had not disclosed the specific details or reasons for summoning the former minister.
Malami reassured Nigerians that he would continue to uphold principles of accountability and would provide updates as developments unfold.
