A two-term member of the House of Representatives and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Teejay Yusuf, has bagged the 2025 Leadership award in ‘Vision, Courage and Commitment to Politics ‘.
The award was bestowed on him on Tuesday in Abuja, by the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness (CCLCA) in conjunction with Naijablitznews and Hellosis Media.
Accepting the award, Yusuf said he is dedicating the award to God and humanity, pointing out that it will serve as an impetus to do more
“I see this as a set up because there is the saying that the reward for good work is more work. So, it is those who don’t know that sees accolades, an award as specs but to me it exposes you for more responsibilities and expectations become high because you have been so awarded to be at this level, so any slip is seen as a failure, so I see this as a set up.
“However, my consolation is the fact that I have not done anything because I am smarter, more intelligent or more equipped.
“I have done whatever I have been able to achieve because it pleases God to make it happen. If it is hard work, the men who dig wells would have been the richest.
“So, I will give honour to whom I will give honour, glory to whom I will give glory to. It pleases God to give us even life today, I want to thank Him.
“And thank you, for finding me worthy. I mean, there are lots of people doing good things, but you noticed me in my corner, I will not take it for granted.

“And I will by His grace stay focused, still try to improve on areas I need to improve, still try to reach out more because I know there are a lot of gaps.
“The greatest challenge we have as a people is leadership, pure leadership. Yes, the leaders we have are from our micro society; from our environment. They are from our families, so the tendency is to bring into public office or whatever they are is a reflection of our home.
“So the day we face the challenge of leadership, our country is fixed. Fix the home, you fix the family. I want to dedicate this to God and to humanity. And say my own commitment and pledge is to say, I will strive to do more.
“I will strive to keep the fire burning. I will try to make sure that the t’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted, so that generations unborn, when they come they will realise that there were some of us in our little corner, who chose to follow this path.
“It might be narrow, it might not have accolades, it might not have applauses, but what I realise is that consistency over time producew more results than make complacent. So, thank you and God bless you,” he said.
