The Olubadan-In-Council has chosen a former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, making him the 44th person to hold this title.
Ladoja was selected during a meeting at the Olubadan’s Palace in Oke-Aremo, located in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He was not present at the meeting where his nomination took place.
During the meeting, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, announced the decision.
He explained that all the members of the council unanimously agreed on Ladoja’s nomination and signed off on it.
Following this, the council plans to inform the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who will choose a date to officially present Ladoja with the staff of office, signifying his new role.

Ladoja served as the governor of Oyo State from 2003 to 2007. His time in office was marked by a brief impeachment in January 2006, but he was reinstated later that same year in December.
Ladoja’s nomination comes after a 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away at the age of 90.
He had held the Olubadan title for just 15 months before his death on July 7.
