The European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen has expressed sorrow upon learning of the passing of Pope Francis, who departed this world at the age of 88.
In her heartfelt tribute via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, she emphasised the pope’s relentless dedication to fostering “a more just, peaceful, and compassionate world.”
Von der Leyen highlighted that Pope Francis inspired millions both within and beyond the Catholic Church, showcasing an extraordinary humility and an unwavering love for the marginalized and less fortunate.
“My thoughts are with all who feel this profound loss,” she conveyed, acknowledging the deep sense of grief felt by countless individuals.
