Oghenekaro Etebo, William Troost-Ekong, Samuel Kalu, and Emmanuel Dennis have been relegated with Watford to play in the English Championship after the relegation struggling side was defeated by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park Stadium.

Watford occupy the 18th position on the Premier League table with 22 points from 35 games and trail a 35-point Everton in 18th position with two games left to play.

Doing a summation on the three outstanding games left even when Watford decide to win all, the total 9 points cannot leapfrog them ahead of Everton or Leeds United on 17th position with 34 points.

Watford gained promotion to the Premier League this season from the Championship after being relegated from England’s foremost football tournament in the 2019-2020 season. Before being relegated, the Hornets spent five consecutive seasons in the Premier League when they gained promotion in 2015-2016.

However, having finished 19 on the league table in 2019-2020, spent only one season in the Championship, finishing second on the league table to gain automatic promotion to the top tier league in the 2021-2022 season.

Watford and Norwich will have to fight their way back to the Premier League next season as they have usually done.

Watford, relegated four times from the Premier League after gaining promotions in different seasons, first got a shot at the English Premier League in the 1999-2000 season.
