Eriri laid to rest amidst tributes

Late Odiologbo of Emede, High Chief Paul Oletu Eriri

The final burial rites of the late Odiologbo of Emede, High Chief Paul Oletu Eriri was held at his home town, Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, amidst tributes.

The ceremony attracted eminent personalities including the Senator representing Delta South, Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, member representing Isoko Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Chief of Staff, Delta State Government House, Mr Johnson Erijo, Chief Enahoro Eta and Chief Daniel Omoyibo.

Also in attendance were, Commissioner representing Isoko nation on the board of DESIPADEC, Chief Victor Egbo, immediate past President General of the Isoko Development Union, IDU, Chief Iduh Amadhe, Chief Mike Edegware, Dr. Paul Ohwe, Esievo Erezi, Pius Malaka, Victor Asasa, amongst others.

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas described Eriri as an invaluable asset to Delta South “having made significant contributions to the advancement of the Isoko ethnic nationality and education during his time as a consultant to the United Nations.”

Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko described Eriri as a well-respected elder statesman whose patriotism was unparalleled.

Similarly, Chief Enahoho Eta said the passage of Eriri “is an abrupt end of an era. We have lost an irrepressible reservoir of wisdom and rapporteur of uncommon pedigree.”

On his part, Chief Iduh Amadhe said Eriri’s legacies and selfless services to the Isoko nation were most uncommon, adding that his elastic capacity in peacebuilding and mobilization stands him out as a rare breed with a heart of gold.

The late Chief Eriri, a one-time United Nations Consultant,
who passed on at 78 years, was until his demise the Odiologbo of Emede (second in command to the Ovie).
