Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors have recorded home wins on Matchday 27 to move up the Nigeria Professionals League (NPFL) table.
Rangers dismantled fellow Eastern brothers Heartland at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Awka, on Saturday with a resurgence from a goal down to win the match 3-1 at full time.
Heartland opened the goal chart in 13 minutes through Philip Clement but an equaliser from Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 22nd minute for the Flying Antelopes and a 40th-minute strike from Shedrack Asiegbu posed by a defensive blunder from the visitors ensured the home team led the game at halftime.
A few minutes to stoppage time, Eso Archibong rounded up the victory for Enugu Rangers which leapfrogged Remo Stars that were defeated by Abia Warriors in the third place on the NPFL table.
Meanwhile, Abia Warriors at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, hammered a rigid Remo Stars to shape with a 2-0 win to revel briefly on the 12th position on the NPFL table on Saturday before Sunday fixtures were played.
The visitors were determined to frustrate the effort of coach Imama Amapakabo’s boys by cutting out their attacks by keeping the attackers in the check. This paid off in the first lapse as the first half ended in a barren draw.

Abia Warriors, in a shocking surprise after a brief break, broke the deadlock 16 minutes after the second half’s kick-off through Yakub Hammed.
The home team finally sealed the victory 10 minutes to the additional time when Valentine Odoh headed a cross from Paul Samson past goalkeeper Kayode Bankole to make it 2-0.
Enugu Rangers after the win, parade 45 points from 27 matches and travel to take on Remo Stars next week’s Sunday in a cracker while Abia Warriors will be entertained by Dakkada at the Nest of Champion Stadium in Akwa-Ibom on the same day.
