The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has announced the cancellation of his planned Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration in Kano.
The 15th Emir in a video made available to newsmen late Wednesday night cited security concerns amids rising tension in the state as the reason for suspending the Durbar.
He stressed on the importance of peaceful coexistence among the people stating that the Durbar celebration is not a matter of life and death.

Alhaji Bayero noted that after several consultations with respected Islamic Clerics, elders, stakeholders, and his council members, they saw the need to suspend this year’s activities for the interest of peace.
He therefore urged the people of the state to use the period of Sallah celebration to visit families and friends, and to witness the Sallah celebration in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
He further prayed for the peace of the state and country in general.
