Former member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu has commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as exemplary leadership and uncommon wisdom in uniting members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Speaking to journalists on Friday shortly after the APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Asaba, Elumelu said the ability of the governor to bring together party leaders across divides demonstrated humility, organisation and focus.

“Well, first of all, let me appreciate the Governor, because it is not easy for these kinds of stakeholders to be put together,” Elumelu said.

“He has shown that he is a leader that is very humble, a leader that is very organised and focused.”

He expressed satisfaction with the calibre of party leaders present at the meeting, noting that the development signalled a return to unity within Delta APC.

“As per the quality of those who were in the stakeholders’ meeting, I’m overwhelmed. We’ve never seen things like this. It appears Delta has come back to those days during Ibori when we were having only one party in the state,” he said.

According to the former House miniority leader, the turnout and atmosphere at the meeting reflected the growing confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Oborevwori.

“What this has clearly shown is that there is one party in Delta State. And that means that President Tinubu and Governor Sheriff are doing fantastically well in terms of uniting the people,” he stated.

“Secondly, the people believe in them, and it is that belief that made everybody turn up.”

On preparations for the party’s forthcoming congresses, Elumelu said discussions at the meeting showed that Deltans were mobilised and ready ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The congress, which is the main focus of our being here, the e-registration and INEC continuous voter registration, all show clearly that Deltans are ready to give President Tinubu the best results,” he said.

“We are hoping to surpass every other state come 2027.”

He explained that stakeholders were directed to return to their respective wards to ensure a peaceful and inclusive congress process.

“They have asked every leader to go back to their various wards. You can’t go to another person’s ward,” Elumelu said.

“What the meeting says is: go back to your ward, form a leadership forum, and come up with a harmonised position where possible. If not, then you go for outright election, and that has been enshrined in the electoral guidelines.”

He expressed confidence that the process would be peaceful and harmonious, noting that the meeting had laid a solid foundation for credible party congresses in Delta State.
