The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), is gearing up for the conduct of fresh local government elections in the state, in compliance with the judgement of the Supreme Court,
Consequently, the commission has invited stakeholders to a pre-election briefing at the commission’s headquarters, on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
A statement dated March 4, 2025, and signed by the Chairman of RSIEC, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, said that those invited to the meeting slated for March 5, 2025, at 2pm include, leaders of all registered political parties, traditional rulers, security agencies, religious organizations, the media and professional organizations.
Others are civil society groups, non- governmental organisations, community based groups, and the electorate.
The statement said “the highlight of the meeting will be unveiling of the timetable, and guidelines for the 2025 local government election in the state.”
