An elder statesman and philanthropist Chief Arthur Eze has praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the establishment of the South-East Development Commission.
Speaking in Enugu during a press interaction, Chief Eze described the initiative as a game-changer, emphasizing its capacity to address long-standing developmental challenges in the South-East. According to him, the commission, generously funded with over N100 billion, will create jobs and catalyze progress, offering unprecedented opportunities for Ndigbo.
“We must commend Tinubu for this remarkable step,” Eze stated. “The South-East Development Commission is the solution to our problems. With over N100 billion allocated, it will create jobs and uplift lives in the region. Tinubu released these funds without hesitation, a sharp contrast to past administrations that ignored us. This initiative will change the lives of our people.”

Chief Eze also lauded President Tinubu’s recent working visit to Enugu, describing it as a historic moment of unity and progress for the South-East. He likened Tinubu’s leadership to that of Nigeria’s great nationalist, Sir Obafemi Awolowo, recalling the enduring legacy of collaboration between Awolowo and leaders like Chief Michael Okpara.
“When Tinubu spoke during his visit, his words were filled with wisdom. He was here for a purpose—to address the pressing issues of the South-East. It felt like a divine appointment, and his visit brought hope to our people,” Eze remarked.
The elder statesman also commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his innovative approach to governance and security. Eze noted that Mbah’s use of technology, including the installation of security cameras across the state, had significantly improved safety, allowing residents to enjoy the yuletide season without fear.
“Governor Mbah has done a lot to ensure security in Enugu. His efforts in urban development and technological interventions have restored confidence among the people. We need other governors in the South-East to emulate his approach,” he said.
Eze expressed optimism about a new era of prosperity for the South-East, envisioning a revival of the golden days of the Old Eastern Region under leaders like Chief Michael Okpara, Sir Obafemi Awolowo, and Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe.
