As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of hundreds of operatives to strategic locations across Enugu State. The move is aimed at ensuring maximum security and a hitch-free celebration throughout the Sallah holiday.
In a statement released on Thursday in Enugu, the NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Elijah Willie confirmed that personnel; both in uniform and undercover, have been strategically stationed at worship centres, recreational parks, markets, and other high-traffic public spaces to deter threats and safeguard residents.
According to Dr. Willie, the deployment is part of the Command’s proactive efforts to protect lives, critical infrastructure, and public order during one of the most spiritually significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Enugu State Command, I extend heartfelt Sallah greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters. Eid-el-Kabir is a sacred time of sacrifice, faith, and reflection. It reminds us of the importance of compassion, service, and obedience to God, values that form the foundation of a safe and united society,” he said.

Dr. Willie emphasized the need for all residents to remain security conscious and to celebrate in moderation while fostering peace and mutual respect. He urged citizens to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security operatives.
“As you prepare to celebrate with joy and gratitude, I call on everyone in Enugu State to be peaceful, law-abiding, and considerate of others. Cooperation with security agencies is crucial. Together, we can build and maintain a safe environment for all,” he added.
He concluded with a prayer for a peaceful and prosperous Eid, expressing hope that the festive season will usher in renewed unity and progress for Enugu State and the entire nation.
