The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 53,500 personnel across the country to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
NSCDC Commandant General, Abubakar Audi, approved the nationwide deployment, which includes tactical units and intelligence operatives strategically positioned across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the corps’ spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi.
According to him, the move is aimed at strengthening security, addressing potential threats, and protecting critical national assets and infrastructure during the festive period.
Audi also directed provosts of colleges, zonal commanders, and state commandants to ensure effective security coverage within their respective areas of responsibility.

He noted that surveillance and security presence have been intensified at key locations, including shopping malls, Eid prayer grounds, mosques, churches, motor parks, and recreational centres.
Both uniformed personnel and undercover operatives have been deployed to these areas to prevent criminal activities.
The NSCDC boss further stressed the importance of routine patrols and collaboration with other security agencies.
He called for improved intelligence sharing and prompt response to emergencies reported by members of the public.
The deployment forms part of broader efforts by the corps to maintain law and order and ensure that citizens celebrate the festive season without disruption.
