The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun, P.h.D, NPM, has laid the foundation stone for a new ultra-modern conference centre at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in a move described as a major stride toward modernizing police infrastructure and strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
The new facility, named the IGP Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun Conference Centre, is envisioned as a world-class, multipurpose complex that will serve as a hub for high-level security engagements, inter-agency coordination, press briefings, policy formulation, and capacity-building programmes.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the project reflects the Inspector-General’s “visionary leadership and dedication to building a more responsive, technology-driven, and globally competitive police institution.”

He lauded the Command’s commitment to innovation, discipline, and operational effectiveness, urging other state commands across the country to emulate the Lagos model.
“Initiatives like this underscore our resolve to transform the Nigeria Police Force into a professional, people-focused, and technology-enabled institution capable of meeting the complex security challenges of our time,” the IGP said.
The statement added that the project aligns with the Force’s ongoing efforts to provide modern facilities for effective policing and improved welfare across commands nationwide.
The ceremony drew senior officers, stakeholders, and representatives from sister security agencies, all of whom hailed the development as a milestone in the ongoing reforms under Egbetokun’s leadership.
