The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun says, the passing out of 1, 033 constables from the Police Training School, Odukpani in Cross River State, will ensure adequate security in the country.
He said the police constables will reinforce the fight against crime as they are to be deployed to their different local government areas to address the longstanding manpower deficit.
Egbetokun, who stated this during the passing out parade of the constables, assured Nigerians of adequate security as they go about their lawful engagements.
He also said that the passing out of more constables from the four premier police colleges and 12 training schools across Nigeria, is a strategic development.

This, according to him, is aimed at augmenting ongoing law enforcement efforts and reinforcing the fight against crime at the grassroots level.
Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police for zone six, Mustapha Bala, the inspector general of police said the passing out exercise is in line with President Tinubu’s directive for the annual recruitment of 30, 000 police constables across the 774 local government areas of the federation.
“It is to strengthen internal security, enhance police performance, and promote optimal police service delivery nationwide,” he further stated.
Egbetokun added that the recruits were trained on professional, legal and liberal studies to enable them carry out law enforcement, crime prevention/detection and preservation of law and order in the country.
