The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the provisional posting of two senior officers to new commands pending the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The affected officers are Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye, deployed to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Wilson Akpan, posted to Kogi State.
According to a police signal referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.6/213, the directive noted that the postings are provisional and subject to PSC confirmation.
It also warned that no officer assuming a higher duty post should wear the rank associated with the new position until formal approval is granted.
The development effectively signals the removal of Ajao Adewale as the Commissioner of Police for the FCT.
Adewale, who assumed office in March 2025, succeeded Assistant Inspector-General, Tunji Disu, who was redeployed to head the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
Dantawaye, who was appointed as Kogi State Commissioner of Police in January, is now expected to take over as the new FCT Commissioner pending PSC confirmation.

The posting comes about a week after the death of Arise News anchorz Somtochukwu Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, who were killed during an armed robbery in Abuja on September 29, 2025.
The 29-year-old journalist and lawyer reportedly jumped from her third-floor apartment at a residential compound in Katampe in a desperate attempt to escape the robbers, who invaded the 16-apartment building around 3 a.m.
She was confirmed dead at Maitama General Hospital around 4:30 a.m.
Police later announced the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with the incident. Before his removal, Adewale had addressed the case in an interview with Arise News, giving his account of the investigation.
