The immediate past state Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Egbabor, Joseph Otheremu, former federal commissioner, Public Complaint Commission, a former state House of Assembly aspirant, Orobosa Ashaka, other key stakeholders of the party and their followers in Ozoro ward 3 of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have registered and collected membership cards of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during the registration and collection of the cards, Egbabor, who led a mammoth crowd from the ward, said they have all since defected to the APC alongside Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other stakeholders across the state.
He noted that they were only completing the processes that qualified them to be full members of the APC.
“We needed to make a decision that would further help to cement the development in our state, Isoko North Local Government and Ozoro Kingdom, as well as to further advance the welfare of our people, and, to a large extent, ensure that development in Delta State, Isoko North Local Government and Ozoro are not truncated.
“We are losing opportunities in terms of federal jobs and appointments. The benefits from the federal level, as well as federal interventions are not reaching us because of party differences. But now that we are in APC, we are optimistic that our interests will be protected,” Egbabor said.
Also speaking, Ashaka, a former state House of Assembly aspirant for PDP in the 2023 general elections, said: “It was important we took a position, and the position we took is for the good of our democracy and to ensure that the good people of Ozoro Ward III and Isoko North State Constituency move forward.”
Receiving the decampees at the APC ward secretariat, the ward Chairman, Mr. Michael Owhofasa, expressed delight at the magnitude of leaders and members of the PDP that have trooped to join the APC.

He welcomed and congratulated the new members for joining the ruling party, assuring them that they would not regret their decision.
He described many of the decampees as leaders and solid members of the PDP, stating that the APC would provide equal opportunities and privileges for both old and new members, adding that the party doors were still open for others to join.
While calling on existing APC members to welcome the decampees with open arms, the Isoko North Local Government Chairman of the APC, Daniel Emebunor enjoined all members of the party to remain united in order to continue to move the wheel of progress of the state forward.
