The first Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witness in the trial of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over an alleged N80.2 billion fraud has given his testimony.

Bello is facing a 19-count charge filed by the EFCC, accusing him of criminal breach of trust and money laundering, in violation of Section 18(a) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended).

However, the prosecution’s first witness, Segun Abeleke, General Manager of EFAB Properties Limited, testified before Justice Emeka Nwite on Monday, at the Federal High Court in Abuja

Under cross-examination by the EFCC counsel, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), Abeleke stated that he was engaged in real estate development, including turn-key projects in prime locations such as Maitama, Asokoro, and Wuse in Abuja.

He further disclosed that in 2020, while in his office, his Chairman, Chief Fabian Nwora, introduced him to a man named Shehu Bello concerning a property under investigation.
