The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised alarm over a fraudulent TikTok live session conducted by scammers using its official logo to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians. According to the anti-graft agency, the criminals, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, operated six fake accounts, falsely presenting themselves as EFCC officials to defraud members of the public.
The impostors created deceptive accounts under names such as “EFCC of Nigeria,” “EFCC Lagos,” “EFCC Delta,” “EFCC of Benin,” “EFCC of Jos,” and “EFCC Saga,” misleading users into believing they were interacting with legitimate EFCC representatives. The commission, in a statement issued by its Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, categorically denied any affiliation with TikTok, clarifying that it does not operate any account on the platform.

Nigerians have been urged to disregard any TikTok account bearing the EFCC’s name or logo, as these are fraudulent attempts to exploit the public. The agency further warned against engaging with such accounts to avoid falling victim to scams.
With cyber fraud on the rise, the EFCC reiterated its commitment to tracking down those responsible for these deceptive activities and ensuring they face the full weight of the law. The commission also advised social media users to verify information from official EFCC channels before taking any action.
