The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has trained some of its officials on Cryptocurrency, Forensic Auditing, and Investigation.
A statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, on Friday said that the training which is a four-day training, commenced on Monday, June 6, 2022, through Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja.
Uwujaren added that the training was designed by the Commission in a bid to tackle emerging crimes and build stronger capacities for future challenges.
He said, “In a bid to tackle some emerging crimes and build stronger capacities for future challenges, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has held a 4-Day training on Crypto-Currency, Forensic Auditing, and Investigation for its operatives.
“The training, which commenced on Monday, June 6, 2022, and ended on Thursday, June 9, 2022, was held at the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja, and drew participants from different cadres of operatives of the Commission.”
According to him, Acting Deputy Commandant, Administration, EFCC Academy, Assistant Commander of EFCC, ACE Joseph Ogwiji, explained that “cryptocurrency is an emerging trend, so we looked at the investigation aspect of it in order to expand the horizon of the officers.”

Ogwiji further said that the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, in his determination to ensure that the Commission remains proactive in the face of some emerging crimes, re-equipped the Academy with everything needed for sustained capacity development of all officers of the Commission.
The Officers were trained on the following topics “Introduction to Crypto Currency, History of Crypto Currency, Block Chain Technology, How to open a Wallet Address, Investigating Crypto Currency Cases, Use of Crypto Currency in the Dark Web, Forensic Auditing and Investigation, Mutual Legal Assistance, among others,” Uwujaren added.
He said Ogwiji assured that a lot was impacted On the participants, adding that the Commission is sure of turning out operatives that are well-grounded in investigation by utilizing forensic auditing approach.
