The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, after several hours of questioning at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Malami, announced his release in a Facebook post early Saturday following the bail on Friday expressing his commitment to continue cooperating with the investigation.
“In keeping with my promise to keep Nigerians informed about my invitation from the EFCC, I thank Allah for His divine assistance,” he wrote.
“The engagement was productive, and I have been released, while remaining available for further meetings as the truth about the false allegations against me continues to emerge.”

The anti-corruption agency summoned the former minister for questioning on Friday.
The EFCC had sent Mr. Malami an invitation letter dated November 24, signed by Sunday Ofen-Imu on behalf of the commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
Mr. Malami was requested to appear at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, to meet with investigators.
The EFCC did not specify the exact allegations that led to Malami’s summons.
On Friday, the former minister acknowledged receiving the invitation and assured his compliance.
