The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 23 individuals suspected of internet fraud in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives from the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate, following credible intelligence reports linking them to various fraudulent online activities in the hotspots of the city.
Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media & Publicity for the EFCC, disclosed that several high-value items were seized during the raid. These included eight exotic cars, laptops, smartphones, and even a PlayStation console, all suspected to have been acquired through illicit activities.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Oyewale confirmed, emphasizing the EFCC’s zero-tolerance stance on internet fraud.
This arrest highlights the EFCC’s continued efforts to tackle cybercrime, a growing menace that has tarnished Nigeria’s image globally.
