The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi has arrested a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Moses Sule, alongside 14 other former legislators, in connection with an alleged money laundering investigation.
This was disclosed via the commission’s official X handle on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The arrested legislators are Gwottson Fom, Sani Abubakar, Jwe Philip Gwom, Thomas Dantong, Happiness Akawu, Cornelius Dotyok, Agbalak Ibrahim, Danjuma Azi, Fwangje Bala Ndat, Salome Tanimu Wanglet, Namba Rimuyat, Nimchak Rims, Ishaku Maren, and Paul Datugun.

The anti-graft commission added that investigations indicate that the former legislators served for only six months, yet oversaw the acquisition of a substantial fleet of luxury vehicles by the state government valued at N2.5 billion, ostensibly for their official use.
Upon completion of their term, the EFCC said the vehicles, which were meant to be returned to the state government, were instead appropriated by the legislators.
It stated that efforts by the state government to reclaim the assets have yielded no results, prompting the government to allocate an additional N2 billion for new vehicles for the serving assembly members.
As investigations continue, the former speaker and his colleagues are expected to face formal charges in court, with the EFCC emphasizing its commitment to holding public officials accountable for any misappropriation of public funds.
