The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, a popular social media content creator, for alleged abuse of naira notes.
His arrest was disclosed in the official EFCC X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
The EFCC said his arrest followed the circulation of a provocative video on his TikTok and Instagram accounts (@username_1), in which Sa’ad can be seen carelessly throwing naira notes onto the ground and deliberately stepping on them.
In the video, he challenges the EFCC officers in Hausa, taunting them to arrest him if they have the courage to do so.
This act sparked outrage among viewers, with many perceiving it as a blatant disrespect for the nation’s currency.

Following the public outcry, EFCC operatives conducted surveillance and successfully apprehended Sa’ad in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State.
He was then taken to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the commission, where he is currently undergoing interrogation.
“Once the interrogation is complete, Sa’ad will face charges in court for his actions, which are considered a violation of Nigeria’s laws regarding currency abuse and financial crimes.
“The EFCC is actively pursuing this case to reinforce the importance of respecting the nation’s currency and to deter similar acts in the future,” the commission said.
