Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 98 suspects in Enugu and Kwara state.
According to the report, 51 suspected internet fraudsters, while their counterparts from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate have detained an additional 47 individuals. These coordinated operations underscore the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime across Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the commission’s official X (Twitter) handle on Thursday, 8th May,2025.
The arrests, which included three females and 48 males, took place in the upscale Premier Layout area of Enugu City. The suspects were found in possession of a staggering array of items indicative of their fraudulent activities. Authorities recovered 18 luxury vehicles, an assortment of high-end mobile phones, and several laptop computers, which are believed to have been used in their cyber operations.

In Kwara State, the Ilorin Zonal Directorate conducted simultaneous raids in various locations, including Awolowo Road, Tanke, and Harmony Estate, as well as in Ganmo and Amoyo, within the Ifelodun Local Government Area. Here, 47 suspects were apprehended, and law enforcement officials seized 10 luxury cars, 18 laptop computers, 74 high-grade mobile phones, and even a motorcycle, all of which are expected to assist in ongoing investigations.
Both operations were executed based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to sophisticated internet fraud schemes that have plagued the regions. The EFCC is committed to thoroughly investigating the matter, and all suspects will face charges in court once the investigations are completed. The commission continues to call on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could be tied to internet fraud.
