The Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC) has arrested one Mr. Bolarinwa Oluwasegun who poses as a fake Army General to defraud his victims.

The EFCC noted he was arrested in the complicity of an alleged two hundred and seventy million naira (N270million) fraud.

In a press release by the EFCC, it stated that Mr. Bolarinwa Oluwasegun fabricated lies claiming to have been penned down for an appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as the next Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The anti-graft agency revealed that according to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, Bolarinwa needed the money to facilitate his appointment for the COAS job.

According to the Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC that arrested Bolarinwa, they noted that he has already designed a fake appointment letter containing the forged signature of Buhari which he showed to the complainant before he was arrested in the swindle.

“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, have arrested one Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, a fake Army General, for an alleged N270m fraud.

“The suspect, who posed as a General in the Nigerian Army, allegedly made false representations to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, that the President, Muhammadu Buhari, had shortlisted him and one other to be appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, and that he needed a short grant to press and process the appointment.

“He also allegedly forged a letter of appointment as COAS purportedly signed by the President and showed the same to the victim to further prove his claim”, he said.

In another raid, the EFCC has arrested an alleged fake lawyer, Adekola Adekeye, over a crime of impersonation and forgery.

According to the anti-graft agency, Mr. Adekola Adekeye’s predicament began on 11 January, 2022 when he was trying to secure the bail of a suspected fraudster in the EFCC custody in the Lagos Command.

EFCC revealed that in the course of digging into the identity of Adekeye, who presented forged court documents to secure their bail, it found out that he was fake.

“Operatives of the Lagos Command of the EFCC, have arrested a fake lawyer, Adekola Adekeye, whose stock-in-trade is forging documents to perpetrate fraud.

“Adekeye’s travail began on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 when he came to the Lagos Command of EFCC posing as a lawyer to secure the bail of a suspected fraudster who is in the commission’s custody.

“However, nemesis caught up with Adekeye when investigators dug in further to verify the documents he tendered to secure the bail of the suspected fraudster”, EFCC added.
