In keeping with its continuous safety awareness programmes, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), has subjected its workforce to a Fire Drill, as part of its way of inculcating safety consciousness and firefighting techniques among its employees.

The exercise, which is held periodically, took place at the company’s corporate headquarters in Enugu, on Thursday, and was organized by the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department, in conjunction with the Enugu State Fire Service.

At the session, there were teachings on fire prevention tips, classes on fire and the various firefighting equipment, with practical demonstrations on how they are used.

The Head of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), EEDC, Engr. Dr Francis Iwu reiterated the company’s commitment to safety and charged every staff of the organization to always be safety conscious and vigilant about happenings around them, both at home and at the workplace.

He further advised them to always converge at the Muster Point anytime the fire alarm is activated, and to always use the stairs and emergency exit routes while evacuating the building, instead of the elevator.
