The Nigerian Army has announced a nationwide verification and screening exercise for the children of fallen heroes as part of its educational sponsorship program for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement shared on the official X handle of the Nigerian Army on Thursday, the proposed initiative will take place across the six geopolitical zones from February to March 2026.
“This sponsorship is one of the welfare programs of the Nigerian Army aimed at ensuring Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary education for the children of personnel who lost their lives in active duty,” the notice stated.
The South-South zone screening is scheduled for February 23 to 26, 2026, at the Headquarters of the 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In the South-East, the verification will occur from February 28 to March 3, 2026, at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Enugu, Enugu State. The South-West screening is set for March 5 to 8, 2026, at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The North-East screening is planned for March 11 to 14, 2026, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Armour Corps in Bauchi, Bauchi State. In the North-West, the exercise will take place from March 16 to 20, 2026, at the Headquarters of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

The North Central zone and Federal Capital Territory screening will be held from March 23 to 27, 2026, at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja.
The Army has urged applicants to bring all necessary documents for the screening.
“Applicants should submit a handwritten application letter that includes the names of the children, admission letters (including JAMB admission letters where applicable), the last school report card or results, a letter confirming pupil or studentship, birth certificates, and Part II orders of birth,” the notice specified.
Additionally, “Other required documents include the death certificate and Part II order of death of the deceased personnel, a condolence letter, Notification of Casualty, two recent passport photographs of the beneficiary and the deceased officer or soldier, account number details, telephone number, school fee receipt, Bank Verification Number, and a first-page printout of the bank statement showing account name and number.”
