Edo Queens edge Heartland Queens in Gov. Diri Pre-season Football Tournament‎ ‎The Governor Douye Diri Female Pre-season Football Tournament on Monday entered match day two with victories for Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels and Edo Queens in the competition. ‎ ‎The tournament has, in the last two days, witnessed the best of female football among the 10 participating teams in the competition. ‎ ‎Former Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions, Rivers Angels, in the first match of the day beat rivals Delta Queens by a lone goal to move top of group 'A". Abasiofon Uwah's 56-minute goal gave the Pride of Rivers the deserved victory. ‎ ‎Nasarawa Amazons beat determined and youthful Imo Strikers courtesy of Odah's 66-minute strike. Abia Angels in group B pipped FC Robo of Lagos one-nil. Blessing Saleh's 87-minute goal from the spot was all the Umuahia-based side needed to go past their opponents. ‎ ‎Edo Queens of Benin in the last game of group B humbled Heartland Queens two-nil to secure four points, having shared the spoils against Abia Angels in the opening fixture. Zainab Olapade put Edo Queens ahead three minutes into the game, while Chioma Moses, on 18 minutes, added another to compound Heartland Queens' woes, leaving them with no points after two matches. ‎ ‎The tournament will enter day three on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, when Nasarawa Amazons will battle Delta Queens at 8:00 am, just as hosts, Bayelsa Queens, confront Rivers Angels at 12:00 pm at the Samson Siasia Stadium in group A. ‎ ‎Heartland Queens of Owerri will tackle FC Robo by 2:00 pm, while Bayelsa Princesses will keep a date with Abia Angels at 4:00 pm. Wednesday will be a day of rest in the competition
