Special Adviser on Women Mobilisation (State) to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Omorede Osifo, has predicted that the people of the state would beg the governor to run for a second term, based on his achievements in his first term.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo is going to move Edo State to the next level. He is the governor that God sent to Edo State. I worked very hard for him during his campaign. God gave me instructions and I followed the instructions.
“I campaigned everywhere for him. I saw in him somebody that’s going to move Edo forward. I am not surprised that within a short time in office, he has done so many wonderful things.
“Things that we have never imagined will happen in Edo State, we are seeing them happening. For example, see the flyover bridges that they’re constructing. We have never thought that we will have that.
“At the end of his first four- year tenure, they will beg him to complete another four years because he would have done the state proud. That would correct all the nonsense he inherited from his predecessor.
“All the evil perpetuated, stealing of government money to build personal estate in the name of government establishments etc. He is somebody that is determined and focused,” he said.

Osifo, who is also the deputy national treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said: “The governor did not make a mistake in picking me. He has picked someone that he knows is capable.
“He knows my antecedent. I am sure he has watched and seen that I am someone who can make things to happen.
“He has promised to give President Bola Tinubu 3.5 million votes in the 2027 presidential election. Women are the ones who go out to vote. I know that out of the 3.5 million votes women will contribute at least 2 million votes.
“So, everything lies on us to go and make it happen. It’s going to happen. For the governor to look around the whole state, and pick me that this woman can give me votes I thank him for this honour and I know that from here greater things would come.”
Going down memory lane, she recalled that “before the 2023 presidential election we formed a women group, Tinubu Women and Children Foundation, in support of Senator Bola Tinubu to contest for the office of president.
“I was the president of the group whose membership cut across all parts of the country. He was on our WhatsApp platform and was privy to our activities.
“We played a big role in mobilising women and also men to vote for Tinubu in the election. I was the first person to hold a women’s summit in Edo State where we canvassed for votes for him.
“The summit, which was attended by women from far and wide, was held at the Protea Hotel in Benin. We went round the country to tell Nigerians that Tinubu is the right person for the job.”
