The First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has called for stronger female participation in politics and governance, describing women’s inclusion as critical to Nigeria’s long-term stability and sustainable development.

Mrs. Okpebholo made the call during the inauguration and award ceremony of the APC Dynamic Women for President Tinubu 2027 held in Abuja, where she received an Award of Excellence on behalf of the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The award recognised the administration’s commitment to advancing women-focused policies and programmes across the state.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Okpebholo highlighted the impact of Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, noting that it has broadened opportunities for women through inclusive governance initiatives in healthcare, agriculture, social welfare, skills acquisition, and economic empowerment.

She said, “There is inclusion in every aspect of government. Women-owned businesses are receiving support. Market women, petty traders, and young entrepreneurs are being empowered. We are honoured by this award and grateful for the recognition,”

She further emphasised the strategic importance of women in the political process, noting that they constitute a significant voting bloc.

She added, “Women are the bedrock of society. In elections, they form the majority of participants. As we approach 2027, we will knock on every door, march on every street, and engage every community. Our hope is renewed, and we remain committed to this path.”

In her remarks, the National Coordinator of APC Dynamic Women for Tinubu 2027, Ambassador Dorcas Peter Azi, charged the newly inaugurated officials to remain dedicated and proactive in mobilising support for the President’s re-election.

She stressed that their leadership roles would be instrumental in strengthening grassroots engagement and advancing the President’s vision for national development.

The event attracted prominent APC stakeholders, elected officials, ministers, and women leaders from across the country.

The APC Dynamic Women for President Tinubu 2027 is a grassroots mobilisation platform designed to galvanize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. Originally formed in 2022 to support the President’s campaign, the group unveiled a new leadership team as part of efforts to reposition and strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
