Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has officially resumed his duties, urging his staff to return to work immediately.
In a video shared on X.com on Monday, Shaibu announced, “In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to the office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”
Shaibu issued a stern warning to staff members who have yet to resume work, emphasizing the importance of their immediate return. He stressed that the Federal High Court’s judgment, which led to his reinstatement, confirms that his office was never vacant.

The Deputy Governor also cautioned banks against engaging in any transactions with his office without his explicit authorization, labeling such actions as illegal.
In addition to his resumption, Shaibu expressed deep sorrow over the recent killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate upon his return to the state. He mentioned that suspects involved in the incident have been apprehended.
Furthermore, Shaibu disclosed that he has sought the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides, although he is still awaiting a response.
