The David Edevbie Campaign Organization has called for calm amongst its supporters over the recent Appeal Court judgement upturning his victory at the Abuja Federal High Court, disclosing that it was already in the process of challenging the ruling at the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja, on Monday, restored the nomination of the Speaker of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Delta.

In his reaction to the verdict, the Director-General of Olorogun David Edevbie Campaign Organisation, Chief Clement Ofuani, described the ruling as a sign of hope, adding that it would spur them to work harder in achieving victory at the Supreme Court.

He maintained that his principal, Edevbie was ready to do the work of developing the State, pointing out that his competence and capacity was widely known and accepted by Deltans.

Ofuani who spoke during a meeting of PDP stakeholders and supporters of David Edevbie held at Asaba, Wednesday, said, “Even though they are treating us like outsiders we will reclaim all our supporters through meetings like this.

“The intention at the PDP Governorship Primary was to make Edevbie come 3rd or 4th position, but as God would have it, with our supporter’s firm stand, we conquered their plan.”

Also speaking at the meeting, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Oneusanya, stated that the meeting was to reaffirm their support for Olorogun David Edevbie as the best person for the Party for the 2023 governorship election in the state.

He called on Deltans to join his Modernisation Movement, saying he presents the best programmes for the development and growth of the state. He added that despite alleged ill-treatment towards David Edevbie and his supporters by the State PDP, they will still remain in the party.

In his remarks, a former Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Fred Ofume noted that the Appeal Court judgement has not dealt with the nucleus of the case as instituted by Olorogun David Edevbie, but leaves room for its opposition.

He said the judgement was a wake-up call for their legal team to perfect their appeal and pursue their case.
