In a significant move to support the families of deceased and injured officers, the Ebonyi State Police Command has presented welfare cheques totaling ₦25,775,971.19 to beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Schemes, as well as the IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

The cheques were handed over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia A. Uche-Anya, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun. The event was held in Abakaliki, where Uche-Anya, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Muhammed Alhaji Muhammed, empathized with the families of fallen heroes and urged them to make wise use of the funds.

The CP expressed deep sympathy for the families of the deceased officers and those who sustained injuries in the line of duty. “These funds are intended to support you during this difficult time. I urge you to use the money wisely, especially in caring for the dependents left behind by our brave officers,” she stated.

The event, which took place on Saturday, was accompanied by a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, who reiterated the police’s commitment to supporting the welfare of its officers and their families.

During the presentation, adult male recipients were advised to invest their time and resources wisely, avoiding negative influences. “Be of good behavior, and ensure that you use this opportunity to uplift your families. Let this be a fresh start for you and those who depend on you,” DCP Muhammed advised.

On behalf of the recipients, Mr. Nwali Emmanuel expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the entire police force. “We appreciate this kind gesture and promise to use the funds to improve the lives of our families,” he said, acknowledging the crucial support provided by the police welfare schemes.

This presentation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force to support the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. The welfare cheques not only provide financial relief but also serve as a reminder of the police’s dedication to the well-being of its personnel and their loved ones.
