Hon. Nkemkanma Kama, the lawmaker representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, has launched a medical outreach expected to benefit no fewer than 25,000 constituents.
The outreach, which kicked off in Oshiri community, Onicha LGA, will be held across 13 centers within the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) that make up the federal constituency. Hon. Kama described the program as a bi-annual intervention to address the healthcare challenges faced by indigent residents until health centers and hospitals in the area become fully functional.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Kama revealed the initiative’s broad scope, which includes surgeries, cancer screenings, and distribution of eyeglasses.
“This year, we are targeting 25,000 beneficiaries. Already, 100 glasses have been distributed, and I have instructed arrangements for an additional 100,” Kama stated.
He emphasized that severe cases requiring specialized attention are being referred to the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) to ensure proper care.
“We are doing our best to handle cases we can manage locally while referring complicated cases to DUFUTH. This ensures the safety and well-being of our people,” he added.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his unwavering support, which has enabled him to excel in his legislative duties.
“Governor Nwifuru supports anyone working for the people, regardless of political affiliation. His assistance has been instrumental in the success of this program,” Kama noted.
