The Ebonyi State Government has successfully resolved a long standing land dispute between Ndiakparata Ndubia and Nduezeoke Ndiechi communities in Izzi Local Government Area, following the signing of a peace agreement brokered by the state.

The resolution was announced by the State Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Professor Paul Awo Nwobasi, during a peace meeting held at the Old Government House in Abakaliki. The commissioner presented the peace agreement documents to community leaders and youths from both sides after formally reading the government’s decision on the matter.

Professor Nwobasi said the state government intervened after receiving multiple reports on the recurring crisis between the two communities. He explained that the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution stepped in to prevent further escalation and to restore lasting peace and harmony in the affected areas.

According to him, both communities have now agreed that the Ministry, working alongside the Office of the Surveyor General of Ebonyi State, will propose a date for the physical demarcation of the disputed land. The demarcation exercise is expected to establish clear boundaries and prevent future conflicts between Ndiakparata Ndubia and Nduezeoke Ndiechi.

Speaking after signing the peace agreement, representatives of the two communities expressed gratitude to the state government for its timely intervention. Eze John Nwenyi of Ndiakparata Ndubia and Eze Jonas Nwoba of Nduezeoke Ndiechi praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for responding swiftly through the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.

They pledged to respect and uphold the terms of the agreement, assuring the government of their commitment to peace, unity, and cooperation. The traditional rulers also called on their people, especially the youths, to embrace dialogue and shun actions that could threaten the fragile peace.

As part of the agreement, both communities resolved to end all forms of hostility and work closely with the ministry throughout the boundary demarcation process. The state government expressed confidence that the agreement would bring sustainable peace and strengthen coexistence in the Izzi Local Government Area.

The resolution marks another step in Ebonyi State’s efforts to address communal conflicts through dialogue and institutional engagement, reinforcing the administration’s stance that peace and development remain inseparable.
