The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, approving a budget of ₦444.978 billion presented by Governor Francis Nwifuru. The budget, titled “Budget of Economic and Social Development,” aims to accelerate the state’s industrialization, boost internally generated revenue, and address the People’s Charter of Needs.
The bill was reviewed and approved at the State Legislative Complex following a detailed assessment by the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance. According to a statement by the Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, Sylvester Egede, the bill underwent a page-by-page review, with necessary corrections made to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa, praised the committee for its dedication and timely completion of the review process. He emphasized that the Assembly remains committed to the welfare of Ebonyi residents and the vision of Governor Nwifuru’s administration. The Speaker expressed optimism that the budget would usher in unprecedented development across the state.

Chairman of the Appropriation and Finance Committee, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, who also serves as the Leader of the House, disclosed that all heads of Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Parastatals were involved in the scrutiny process. This collaborative effort ensured a thorough review of the budget, adhering to global best practices in financial reporting and government finance standards.
Ikoro highlighted the three key components of the budget: personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures. He described the budget as a strategic framework designed to enhance economic growth and address critical social needs, furthering the state’s commitment to sustainable development.
