The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 569 personnel and operational vehicles across Enugu State for its Easter Special Patrol aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and road safety during the festive period.
The Sector Commander of FRSC in Enugu, Franklin Agbakoba, disclosed this on Wednesday, noting that the deployment comprises 309 regular officers and 260 special marshals.
Agbakoba said the command has also mobilised 10 operational vehicles to cover major road corridors in the state. These include seven patrol vans, one motorcycle, a tow truck, and an intensive care ambulance to respond to emergencies.
He explained that the special operation, which began on April 1, will run for 10 days until April 10, with personnel working round the clock on shift basis to manage traffic and respond swiftly to incidents.

The sector commander highlighted a major development expected to ease congestion along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. He said the second lane of the Ugwu-Onyeama axis would be officially opened to traffic, a move anticipated to reduce gridlock and minimise accidents in the area.
Agbakoba advised motorists to plan their journeys early, exercise patience, and respect traffic regulations. He warned commercial drivers against overloading passengers and goods, stressing that the corps would enforce compliance throughout the period.
He also cautioned drivers against alcohol consumption or the use of intoxicants before driving, noting that such behaviour increases the risk of accidents and endangers other road users.
The FRSC boss urged all road users to adopt safe driving practices to ensure a hitch-free Easter celebration, assuring that officers would remain vigilant across highways and major routes in the state.
He wished residents of Enugu State and Nigerians at large a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.
